Nick Wells - Lead Vocals, Percussion
Nick joined the fledgling Book of Genesis in 2004 when the band was radically different to the lineup sported today. He has been playing and singing in bands since his teens which is some time ago now. He remembers selling Uriah Heep’s Demons and Wizards in order to put money towards the purchase of Foxtrot when it came out – that’s how long he’s been around!
Always a fan of Genesis from the time he first saw them at Guildford Civic Hall in 1972 he long ago decided that he wanted to play their music before the term Tribute Band was even considered. Answering an ad on Partysounds it seemed that his ambition could be realised. Little did he appreciate the work involved and the time that it would take to get it off the ground. As he says ”Had I known how long it would take to get to this stage I wouldn’t have bothered buying my Old Man mask – I can easily use the face I’ve got now”.
Still the only man most people know to have walked away from an air crash (Lasham Flying Club to this day have Not Wanted posters plastered around their premises relating to an incident with a glider, and at the time nervous and, by now, totally insane instructor and the Dan Air Terminal) he now relaxes in more mundane and sedentary style by reading, writing and playing computer based flying games.
Equipment:
T C Helicon Voiceworks Plus
Yamaha Compressor
Alesis Micoverb effects unit
Shure SM58 microphone
Sennheiser Freeport wireless microphone
Wireless ear monitors
Various hats, capes and masks
Tambourines, shakers, bells and chimes

Favourite track: The Musical Box
List of influences - Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Radiohead, Bowie, Thomas Tallis, Vaughan Williams, Debussy, Audience, Fairport Convention, IQ, Caravan, Free, The Kinks, King Crimson, Motown, Gryphon, Mike Oldfield, Nick Drake, Floyd, Phillip Glass, Small Faces, The Who, Stackridge to name but a few ......

Andy Daish - Drums, Voices, bells and whistles
Born August 1970.He lived in Portsmouth until 9 years old, and then moved to Southampton, Then in 2006 moved to Bournemouth with his wife and children.
He was first introduced to drumming by his cousin when he was about 8 yrs old and then really got in to it when he was about 19. He has since been playing the drums on and off since he was about 19, He also went on to Bass Guitar for a while but missed playing the drums so I went back on them.
He has played the drums in a number of bands over the years to include various covers bands and a Queen Tribute band “The Queens” after leaving them he took a well earned break for a while and then started looking again. One of the bands he was in was an original’s progressive rock band called Bruce’s Spider where he first met Howard who as it happens turned out to be into the same kind of music as him. A band called Madron was another venture that he and Howard joined and there they first met Kirk.
In Andy’s limited spare time he plays drums in a Guggen musik band called Gugge 2000 that are based in Bournemouth, he also plays the Trumpet, Saxophone, Bugle and Side Drum in the Wessex Military Band.

Kirk Watson - Bass, 12 string Guitar, Voices
Born in 1966, Kirk is too young to die, but slightly too old to live like he used to.
With a family of twin boys, his ONE to be obeyed, a lazy dog and two goldfish, it is
surprising he can slip away occasionally to rehearse with bands, but has been doing so
since 1984. Bass was a natural instrument for Kirk to choose, only having four fingers on
his left hand. Once he graduated from the Freemans catalogue bass and bought a serious
instrument, a 1977 black Fender Precision, he was able to stun cats at thirty paces using
only an amplified E string.
After attending a gig from popular beat combo Iron Maiden, and being brought up on classic
rock such as Genesis, Pink Floyd, Camel and Rush, he realised there was more to playing
bass than stunning cats and posing in the mirror, and started joining local bands such as
Urban Clearway, Future, Cassandra and many others that no one has ever heard of.
He has featured on a 12" single and an album (both things made of plastic a bit bigger than CD's
for the younger of you out there), recorded at Metropolis studios in Chiswick, a full
state of the art studio (in the 90's) , recorded in Simon Townshend's personal studio
(brother of THAT Townshend), auditioned not wholly unsuccessfully for some quite famous
bands, and finally met Howard and Andy, who made him realise that the one thing he SHOULD
be doing is learning all the Genesis back catalogue and pretending to be Mike Rutherford.
So he would ask you that when we start playing live, please come to see us,
or else he will start stunning cats again. And I don't think anyone wants that, do we?

Bob - Lead Guitar, 12 String, Classical Guitar
Bob joined the band in September 2007, having split up from a Southampton based rock covers band.
He first started playing guitar at boarding school, where he traded in his piano lessons
with an enigmatic young chap called “Harry Enfield”. His first band was aptly named
“Emmy and the Bad Smells” in 1977 (when punk was all the rage). The band reached the
height of coolness by being the first band to ever get banned from playing at the school again
– something to do with a lot of swearing and having somewhat partially clad young girls on stage.
It was around this time that he discovered a passion for Genesis & soon got involved with some
like-minded musicians to form another school band called “Legend”, which eventually dissolved
when everyone left for university. Bob maintained a background interest in music in favour of
work & family until his early 40s, when he and friend formed a very successful rock covers band
called RIFF. When the band broke up, Bob took the opportunity to find other musicians into
progressive music & joined The Book of Genesis.
Equipment:
Line 6 POD XT Live, PRS 6-string electric; Takamine 12-string electro-acoustic, Austra Classical 6 string
Favourite track: Fountain of Salmacis
Bob’s main influences: Steve Hackett, Steve Howe, David Gilmore, John Petrucci, Mike Oldfield

The History of The Book of Genesis ... according to Andy
In the beginning...
I decided that I would like to form a Genesis Tribute band years ago, but I needed to find players who were as enthusiastic as I was, so my quest began.
I started with a friend called Russell on guitar and we looked for months for other potential members. I had almost decided to give up as there never seemed to be a keyboard player up to the task. Then I met Howard in a band called Bruce's Spider. Naturally we got talking about music in general and found that we were both really into Genesis and as a Brucey Bonus Howard could play almost all of the Genesis back catalogue. I mentioned to him that I had always wanted to start a Genesis Tribute Band and to my surprise he said that he had auditioned for one in the past but without success. I suggested that we start our own, and so we had the Keyboards, drums and guitar. All we needed was to find the rest! We talked about names for the band and came up with a few different ones but as we had already decided to play songs from the first album right up to the last I suggested naming us The Book of Genesis, The band was born.
I then got back in touch with Russell to let him know what was happening and he confirmed he was still very much into the idea. We then found a Bassist who was quite interested and then we found Nick so the full lineup was up and running seemingly in next to no time. If only we had known!
Full band rehearsals took place over the next few months and then problems arose ... not too long before the first gig the bass player decided to leave. Then as the gig got closer Nick couldn't do the gig due to unforeseen circumstances, so we then ended up doing the gig with the three of us that were left, me singing and playing the drums at the same time, Howard playing keyboards and Bass parts and Russell using a double neck Bass/Guitar. Although it went quite well it wasn't the same as the full line up.
It then looked like it was all falling apart when Howard’s work took him to Australia (September 2005) for a year. We waited for him to come back home and on his return we started again, but now we had a new problem. Russell's job had changed and he was now on shifts so we lost our guitarist. And Then There Were Three - Howard, Nick and myself.
We advertised again for Bass and Guitarist. In the meantime, when Howard was away in the land of Oz, I had joined a band called Madron, where I met Kirk (Bass) and found that he too had an interest in Genesis music although he had never tried to play any of it. Howard then joined Madron .The two of us got talking to Kirk and he decided to join us. I then got on to Nick and let him know the good news and that if he was still interested it was full steam ahead once more. We were off again!
A few Guitarists came and went for a while but with no real success then Nick phoned me and said that he may have found someone interested in joining us to complete the line up. Bob came along and blew us away. This was just what we needed to give us a boost; that was in September 2007.
We are now up and running and have started gigging so watch this web site for details of forthcoming shows.
Andy (drums)
